Many things keep us awake at night, from money worries and issues at work to affairs of the heart. But a new NOP poll commissioned by Silentnight Beds, reveals there may be a new reason why us Brits are having a restless night’s sleep and waking up a little worse for wear.

Silentnight Beds, have uncovered a new bed phenomenon, ‘Bed Bashing’, as the poll reveals that a quarter of Brits regularly get bashed in bed by their partners.

How to block pop

Anyone who browses the Internet has encountered “pop-up windows” from time to time. These are new windows that are automatically generated by certain Web sites, either when you open the page or close it. Usually, they offer information helpful to those viewing the page, or ask for log in information to enter the page. These generally take up very little space, and once addressed, disappear and allow the user to continue their intended purpose on the page. More often, pop-ups are used to display advertisements that get in the way of the user. Many pull up a full-screen advertising window. In extreme cases, sites generate a seemingly never-ending string of new pop-up windows that appear faster than the user can Read the rest of this entry »

Game reviews: Yahtzee

We lived in Minnesota for many years. Minnesota is known as The Land of 10,000 Lakes. Unfortunately, we lived in the one county without even one small one. No problem. Every June and again in August we hitched the boat to our station wagon and headed north where at least 9,000 of the lakes were located.

We spent the days fishing and water skiing and exploring other lakes. After dinner, it was time for Yahtzee! I’m not sure how this became our game of choice on those trips. But, this summer we are spending a week at the beach and Yahtzee will again be our after dinner entertainment.

I think one of the best things about Yahtzee is there is no age Read the rest of this entry »

Why is it so Hard to Talk For Men and Women?

The essay addresses all men and women having problems in conversing with each other. The purpose of the paper is to show that most problems occur in the families when couples come to understand that their conversational habits are very different. It analyzes how those patterns differ, how each partner interprets the behavior of the other and how these problems could be solved if each side realizes the problem. The author of the article claims that women in marriage much more often than man focus on intangible assets as the major problems. This claim is also supported by the research of Andrew Hacker which conducted his study way back in the 70’s and the authors own research proved the problem Read the rest of this entry »

Poetry: Humorous poems for children – Part 7

THE FLUFFY CAROUSEL

small furry animals down in the dale

taking a ride on Ferdys fox tail.

queuing in order to jump on his brush

to be swirled around in a bit of a rush.

Ronnie the rabbit was waiting in line

when Freddie the ferret fell the fist time,

Harriet hare, though, so prim and proper

was eating an ice-cream and it was a whopper.

Bertie badger came out of his hollow to see

the fun and the frolics, the forest all giggly.

Harry hedgehog smoothed down his spiny sharp bristles

because Mother had told him they stung just like thistles,

all the animals were hungry and Ollie owl cooed out,

now eat up your greens, be good kids, or I,ll shout…..
